AnaBuilder

To create stunning stereoscopic images (3D anaglyphs) using AnaBuilder, you must take two slightly offset photographs and use the software to align, color-balance, and merge them. AnaBuilder is a powerful, free tool specifically designed to automate the tricky process of shifting and rotating “left” and “right” eye images so they look perfectly crisp when viewed through 3D glasses. Here is the step-by-step guide to mastering AnaBuilder. Step 1: Capture the Source Photos

Take two shots. Take one photo for the left eye and one for the right eye.

Shift horizontally. Move your camera roughly 2.5 inches (6.5 cm) sideways between shots.

Keep parallel. Do not tilt or rotate the camera; keep it on a flat, level plane.

Maintain focus. Ensure the lighting, focus, and focal length are identical for both images. Step 2: Import the Images into AnaBuilder Launch AnaBuilder. Open the application on your desktop.

Load Left. Click the Load Left button to select your left-eye photo.

Load Right. Click the Load Right button to import your right-eye photo.

Check orientation. Ensure the correct images are mapped to their respective sides. Step 3: Run the Auto-Alignment Tool

Click Auto-Align. Use the built-in automatic registration tool to find matching points.

Correct shifts. AnaBuilder will automatically correct vertical errors, scaling, and rotation.

Verify accuracy. Look for “ghosting” or blurry lines that indicate misalignment.

Adjust manually. If the auto-align fails, use the arrow keys to manually shift the images. Step 4: Define the Stereo Window (Convergence Point)

Select the focal point. Choose the object in your photo that should sit exactly at screen level.

Adjust convergence. Align the left and right versions of this specific object perfectly on top of each other.

Create depth. Objects closer than this point will appear to pop out; objects further away will recede. Step 5: Color Optimize and Render

Choose Anaglyph type. Select your output mode (typically Red/Cyan for standard 3D glasses).

Apply color optimization. Use AnaBuilder’s “De-anaglyph” or “Optimized Anaglyph” settings to reduce eye strain.

Reduce retinal rivalry. Adjust the saturation to prevent bright reds or blues from causing visual discomfort. Step 6: Crop and Export

Crop “blank” edges. Alignment causes the outer borders of your images to mismatch; crop these out.

Save final. Export your final image as a high-quality JPEG or TIFF.

Test your work. Put on your 3D glasses to review the depth depth and clarity.
